Toilet paper...
It's after 11pm the night before we leave for another continent, a country to which we have both never travelled. We are excited and you guessed it, packing! Some of things we are not leaving behind: toothpaste, clif bars, anti-malarial meds, and 3 rolls of toilet paper. Toilet paper? There is absolutely NO toilet paper for sale in the village where we will be staying. It's hard to believe we'll be leaving American conveniences such as toilet paper (I bet you never thought of toilet paper as a convenience) behind for 2 weeks.
We are debating about whether we should stay awake until we can no longer stand it or give into sleep. It's now 11:40 in the morning on Friday at our final destination. In order to adjust our bodies to that time zone, we will need to stay awake until we board the plane tomorrow. Jet lag will be inevitable. We have 30+ hours of travelling ahead of us- 3 plane rides and a 2 hour car ride. I think we'll take advanatage of our last night in a comfy bed free of mosquitoes and any other creatures! =)
The journey begins. We hope to keep you updated as much as we can. You may not hear from us at all while we are away, but we hope to post our thoughts and experiences as soon as we can!
Lesson #1 from A&W: Remember to thank God for the availablity and variety of toilet paper next time you walk down the paper products aisle at Safeway!
